GENERAL OFFICER ANNOUNCEMENTS

Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld announced today that the president has made the following nominations:

Army Lt. Gen. Edward G. Anderson III for reappointment to the rank of lieutenant general with assignment as deputy commander, U.S. Northern Command, Peterson Air Force Base, Colo. Anderson is currently serving as the deputy commander and chief of staff, U.S. Space Command and vice commander, North American Aerospace Defense Command, Peterson Air Force Base.

Army Lt. Gen. John B. Sylvester for reappointment to the rank of lieutenant general with assignment as chief of staff, U.S. European Command, Germany. Sylvester is currently serving as the commander, Stabilization Force, Operation Joint Forge, Tuzla, Bosnia.

MAJOR GENERAL

Secretary Rumsfeld announced today that the president has nominated Army Reserve Brig. Gen. Paul E. Mock for appointment to the rank of major general. Mock is currently serving as the deputy commander, 311th Corps Support Command, Los Angeles.

BRIGIDIER GENERAL

Secretary Rumsfeld announced today that the president has nominated Army Reserve Col. Bruce A. Casella for appointment to the rank of brigadier general. Casella is currently serving as chief of staff, 96th Regional Command, Salt Lake City.
