The Department of Defense today announced the recipients of the 2002 Defense Maintenance Awards.
The winners in the Small Category are: A Company, 201st Forward Support Battalion, Vilseck, Germany; U.S. Army; 510th Fighter Squadron Aviano Air Base, Italy, U.S. Air Force; Medium Category: 9th Engineer Support Battalion, Camp Hansen, Okinawa, Japan, U.S. Marine Corps; 18th Maintenance Squadron, Kadena Air Base, Okinawa, Japan, U.S. Air Force; Large Category: USS Enterprise, Norfolk,Va., U.S. Navy, 354th Fighter Wing, Eielson Air Force Base, Alaska, U.S. Air Force.
These awards will be presented on Oct. 31, 2002 at the Maintenance Awards Banquet held in conjunction with 2002 Maintenance Symposium and Exhibition in Reno, Nev. The Phoenix Trophy, awarded to the overall winner of all the categories, will also be announced.
Each year the Secretary of Defense Maintenance Awards Program recognizes outstanding achievements in military equipment and weapon system maintenance by organizations of the military departments. Awards are presented in the categories of small, medium, and large units.
