GENERAL AND FLAG OFFICER ANNOUNCEMENTS
Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld announced today that the president has nominated Marine Corps Maj. Gen. James T. Conway for appointment to the rank of lieutenant general with assignment as the commanding general, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Pendleton, Calif. Conway is currently serving as the deputy commander, U.S. Marine Forces Central Command, Camp Pendleton, Calif.
REAR ADMIRAL (LOWER HALF)
Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Vern Clark announced today that Navy Rear Adm. (lower half) Clinton E. Adams is being assigned as fleet surgeon, commander, U.S. Atlantic Fleet. Adams is currently assigned as commander, Naval Medical Center, Portsmouth, Va.
