FLAG OFFICER ASSIGNMENT

Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Vern Clark announced today that Navy Rear Adm. (lower half) (selectee) Melvin G. Williams, Jr., is being assigned as commander, Submarine Group Nine, Bangor, Wash. Williams is currently assigned as special assistant, Submarine Warfare Division, N77, Office of the Chief of Naval Operations, Arlington, Va.
