DEFENSE DEPARTMENT IDENTIFIES ARMY CASUALTY
The Department of Defense announced today that Spc. Gil Mercado, 25, of Paterson, N.J., was killed yesterday by a non-combat weapon discharge in Iraq.
Mercado was assigned to 3rd Battalion, 187th Infantry Regiment, based at Fort Campbell, Ky.
His death is under investigation.
