GENERAL OFFICER ANNOUNCEMENTS

Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld announced today that the president has nominated Army Maj. Gen. Steven W. Boutelle for appointment to the rank of lieutenant general with assignment as chief information officer/G-6, U.S. Army, Washington, D.C. Boutelle is currently serving as director of information operations, networks and space, Office of the Chief Information Officer/G-6, U.S. Army, Washington, D.C.

MAJOR GENERAL

Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld announced today that the president has made the following nominations:

Air Force Brig. Gen. Kenneth M. DeCuir has been nominated to the rank of major general while serving as the commander, Cheyenne Mountain Operations Center, U.S. Northern Command and North American Aerospace Defense Command, Cheyenne Mountain Air Station, Colo.

Air Force Brig. Gen. Bob D. Dulaney has been nominated to the rank of major general while serving as the director of plans, Headquarters North American Aerospace Defense Command, Peterson Air Force Base, Colo.

Air Force Brig. Gen. Robert J. Elder, Jr., has been nominated to the rank of major general while serving as the vice commander, 9th Air Force, Air Combat Command, Shaw Air Force Base, S.C.

Air Force Brig. Gen. Paul J. Fletcher has been nominated to the rank of major general while serving as the director, plans and programs, Headquarters Pacific Air Forces, Hickam Air Force Base, Hawaii.

Air Force Brig. Gen. Douglas M. Fraser has been nominated to the rank of major general while serving as the commander, Space Warfare Center, Air Force Space Command, Schriever Air Force Base, Colo.

Air Force Brig. Gen. William M. Fraser III has been nominated to the rank of major general while serving as the director, Operations, Headquarters Air Education and Training Command, Randolph Air Force Base, Texas.

Air Force Brig. Gen. Stanley Gorenc has been nominated to the rank of major general while serving as the director, Plans and Programs, Headquarters, U.S. Air Forces in Europe, Ramstein Air Base, Germany.

Air Force Brig. Gen. Elizabeth A. Harrell has been nominated to the rank of major general while serving as the director, Maintenance, Deputy Chief of Staff, Installations and Logistics, Headquarters U.S. Air Force, Washington, D.C.

Air Force Brig. Gen. William F. Hodgkins has been nominated to the rank of major general while serving as the deputy commander, Combined Air Operations Center 7, Allied Air Forces South, North Atlantic Treaty Organization, Larissa, Greece.

Air Force Brig. Gen. Raymond E. Johns, Jr., has been nominated to the rank of major general while serving as the deputy director, Programs, Deputy Chief of Staff, Plans and Programs, Headquarters U.S. Air Force, Washington, D.C.

Air Force Brig. Gen. Timothy C. Jones has been nominated to the rank of major general while serving as the commander, 55th Wing, Air Combat Command, Offutt Air Force Base, Neb.

Air Force Brig. Gen. Joseph E. Kelley has been nominated to the rank of major general while serving as the assistant surgeon general for expeditionary operations, science and technology, Office of the Surgeon General, Headquarters U.S. Air Force, Bolling Air Force Base, Washington D.C.

Air Force Brig. Gen. Frank G. Klotz has been nominated to the rank of major general while serving as the director, Nuclear Policy and Arms Control, National Security Council, Executive Office of the President, Washington, D.C.

Air Force Brig. Gen. Robert H. Latiff has been nominated to the rank of major general while serving as the director, Advanced Systems and Technology, National Reconnaissance Office, Chantilly, Va.

Air Force Brig. Gen. Richard B.H. Lewis has been nominated to the rank of major general while serving as the program executive officer, Fighter and Bomber Programs, Air Force Program Executive Office, Office of the Assistant Secretary of the Air Force (Acquisition), Headquarters U.S. Air Force, Washington, D.C.

Air Force Brig. Gen. Henry A. Obering III has been nominated to the rank of major general while serving as the deputy for Force Structure Integration and Deployment and program director for Battle Management Command and Control, Missile Defense Agency, Arlington, Va.

Air Force Brig. Gen. Michael W. Peterson has been nominated to the rank of major general while serving as the commander, 81st Training Wing, Air Education and Training Command, Keesler Air Force Base, Miss.

Air Force Brig. Gen. Teresa M. Peterson has been nominated to the rank of major general while serving as the commander, 305th Air Mobility Wing, Air Mobility Command, McGuire Air Force Base, N.J.

Air Force Brig. Gen. Gregory H. Power has been nominated to the rank of major general while serving as the vice commander, Eighth Air Force, Air Combat Command, Barksdale Air Force Base, La.

Air Force Brig. Gen. Robin E. Scott has been nominated to the rank of major general while serving as the commanding general, Combined Task Force Operation Northern Watch, U.S. European Command, Incirlik Air Base, Turkey.

Air Force Brig. Gen. Robert L. Smolen has been nominated to the rank of major general while serving as the director, Nuclear and Counterproliferation, Deputy Chief of Staff, Air and Space Operations, Headquarters U.S. Air Force, Washington, D.C.

Air Force Brig. Gen. Mark A. Volcheff has been nominated to the rank of major general while serving as the deputy director, Plans and Programs, Headquarters Air Mobility Command, Scott Air Force Base, Ill.

Army Chief of Staff, Gen. Eric K. Shinseki announced today the assignment of the following officer:

Army National Guard Maj. Gen. Raymond F. Rees is being assigned as chief of staff, U.S. Northern Command, Peterson Air Force Base, Colo. Rees is currently serving as vice chief, National Guard Bureau, Arlington, Va.

BRIGADIER GENERAL

Army Chief of Staff, Gen. Eric K. Shinseki announced today the assignment of the following officer:

Army Reserve Brig. Gen. James R. Sholar is being assigned as commander, 90th Regional Support Command, North Little Rock, Ark. Sholar is currently serving as deputy commander, 90th Regional Support Command, North Little Rock, Ark.
