DOD IDENTIFIES ARMY CASUALTY
The Department of Defense announced today that Spc. Roy Russell Buckley, 24, of Portage, Ind., was killed on April 22, 2003, in Iraq. Buckley was aboard a M818 truck traveling in a convoy when he exited the passenger compartment, climbed into the trailer and did not return. Buckley was discovered lying on the side of the road with serious injuries. Medical aid was summoned and he was pronounced dead. The incident is under investigation.
Buckley was assigned to the 685th Transportation Company, based in Hobart, Ind.
