FLAG AND GENERAL OFFICER ANNOUNCEMENTS

Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld announced today that the president has made the following nominations:

Army Maj. Gen. Keith B. Alexander has been nominated for appointment to the rank of lieutenant general with assignment as deputy chief of staff, G-2, U.S. Army, Washington, D.C. Alexander is currently serving as commanding general, U.S. Army Intelligence and Security Command, Fort Belvoir, Va.

Army Maj. Gen. Ricardo S. Sanchez has been nominated for appointment to the rank of lieutenant general with assignment as commanding general, V Corps, U.S. Army Europe and Seventh Army, Germany. Sanchez is currently serving as commanding general, 1st Armored Division, U.S. Army Europe and Seventh Army, Germany.

Air Force Maj. Gen. Michael M. Dunn for appointment to the rank of lieutenant general with assignment as president, National Defense University, Fort McNair, Washington, D.C. Dunn is currently serving as vice director, Strategic Plans and Policy, J-5, Joint Staff, Pentagon, Washington, D.C.

REAR ADMIRAL (LOWER HALF)

Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Vern Clark today announced that Navy Rear Adm. (lower half) (selectee) Carl V. Mauney is being assigned as director, Strategy and Policy Division, N51, Office of Chief of Naval Operations, Arlington, Va. Mauney is currently serving as executive assistant to the Commander, U.S. Central Command, MacDill Air Force Base, Fla.
