Secretary of Defense William J. Perry today announced the names of the Quality
of Life Task Force as members began two days of meetings at the Hyatt Arlington
at Key Bridge in Arlington, Va.
Headed by former Secretary of the Army John O. Marsh Jr., the task force was
set up in November 1994 by the Secretary to make recommendations on how to
improve the quality of life of military personnel, their families, and civilian
employees in the Department of Defense. Membership includes retired senior
officer and enlisted members from each of the Services, civilian business
leaders with backgrounds in housing, construction and finance, and individuals
with concerns for military families, civilian personnel and legislative
background.
The purpose of meetings over the next two days will be for panel members to
get together for the first time, get quality of life perspectives from each of
the Services, and lay the groundwork for strategies to achieve task force goals
and objectives.
