FLAG OFFICER ANNOUNCEMENTS

Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld announced today that the president has made the following nominations:

Navy Capt. John M. Bird has been nominated for appointment to the rank of rear admiral (lower half). Bird is currently serving as chief, Central, South and Southeast Asia Division, Joint Staff, Washington D.C.

Navy Capt. John T. Blake has been nominated for appointment to the rank of rear admiral (lower half). Blake is currently serving as head, Program Plans and Development Branch, N801, Office of the Chief of Naval Operations, Washington, D.C.

Navy Capt. Martin J. Brown, Supply Corps, has been nominated for appointment to the rank of rear admiral (lower half). Brown is currently serving as commander, Naval Supply Systems Command (N132), Arlington Detachment, Washington, D.C.

Navy Capt. Fred Byus has been nominated for appointment to the rank of rear admiral (lower half). Byus is currently serving as chief of staff to the Commander, Seventh Fleet, Yokosuka, Japan.

Navy Capt. Thomas R. Cullison, Medical Corps, has been nominated for appointment to the rank of rear admiral (lower half). Cullison is currently serving as fleet surgeon, Commander, U.S. Pacific Fleet, Honolulu, Hawaii.

Navy Capt. David J. Dorsett has been nominated for appointment to the rank of rear admiral (lower half). Dorsett is currently serving as director, Requirements, Plans, Programs and Policy Division, N20, Office of the Chief of Naval Operations, Washington, D.C.

Navy Capt. Frank M. Drennan has been nominated for appointment to the rank of rear admiral (lower half). Drennan is currently serving as branch head for acquisition and maintenance, N77, Office of the Chief of Naval Operations, Washington, D.C.

Navy Capt. Gary A. Engle, Civil Engineer Corps, has been nominated for appointment to the rank of rear admiral (lower half). Engle is currently serving as chief of staff, Commander, First Naval Construction Division, U.S. Atlantic Fleet, Norfolk, Va.

Navy Capt. Mark E. Ferguson III has been nominated for appointment to the rank of rear admiral (lower half). Ferguson is currently serving as director, Navy Senate Liaison Office, Washington, D.C.

Navy Capt. John W. Goodwin has been nominated for appointment to the rank of rear admiral (lower half). Goodwin is currently serving as commanding officer, USS RONALD REAGAN (CVN 76), Norfolk, Va.

Navy Capt. Elizabeth A. Hight has been nominated for appointment to the rank of rear admiral (lower half). Hight is currently serving as commanding officer, Naval Computer and Telecommunications Area Master Station Atlantic (NCTAMS), Norfolk, Va.

Navy Capt. Mark A. Hugel has been nominated for appointment to the rank of rear admiral (lower half). Hugel is currently serving as commanding officer, Norfolk Naval Shipyard, Portsmouth, Va.

Navy Capt. Richard W. Hunt has been nominated for appointment to the rank of rear admiral (lower half). Hunt is currently serving as executive assistant to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Washington, D.C.

Navy Capt. Arthur J. Johnson, Jr., has been nominated for appointment to the rank of rear admiral (lower half). Johnson is currently serving as chief, East Asia Pacific Division, J-5, Joint Staff, Washington, D.C.

Navy Capt. Mark W. Kenny has been nominated for appointment to the rank of rear admiral (lower half). Kenny is currently serving as executive assistant to the Director, Force Structure, Resources and Assessment, J-8, Joint Staff, Washington, D.C.

Navy Capt. Joseph F. Kilkenny has been nominated for appointment to the rank of rear admiral (lower half). Kilkenny is currently serving as director, Aviation Officer Distribution, PERS-43, Navy Personnel Command, Millington, Tenn.

Navy Capt. William A. Kowba, Supply Corps, has been nominated for appointment to the grade of rear admiral (lower half). Kowba is currently serving as strategic studies group fellow, Naval War College, Newport, R.I.

Navy Capt. William E. Landay III has been nominated for appointment to the rank of rear admiral (lower half). Landay is currently serving as executive assistant to the Assistant Secretary of the Navy for Research, Development and Acquisition, Washington, D.C.

Navy Capt. Michael A. LeFever has been nominated for appointment to the rank of rear admiral (lower half). LeFever is currently serving as director, Surface Warfare Distribution Division, PERS-41, Navy Personnel Command, Millington, Tenn.

Navy Capt. Michael J. Lyden, Supply Corps, has been nominated for appointment to the rank of rear admiral (lower half). Lyden is currently serving as executive assistant to the Director, Logistics Agency, Washington, D.C.

Navy Capt. Gerard M. Mauer, Jr., has been nominated for appointment to the rank of rear admiral (lower half). Mauer is currently serving as assistant deputy director for operations, Information Operations, J-39, Joint Staff, Washington, D.C.

Navy Capt. Douglas L. McClain has been nominated for appointment to the rank of rear admiral (lower half). McClain is currently serving as chief, Policy Division, J-5, Joint Staff, Washington, D.C.

Navy Capt. Terry L. McCreary has been nominated for appointment to the rank of rear admiral (lower half). McCreary is currently serving as special assistant for public affairs, Office of the Chairman, Joint Chiefs of Staff, Washington, D.C.

Navy Capt. William H. McRaven has been nominated for appointment to the rank of rear admiral (lower half). McRaven is currently serving as director for strategy and defense issues, National Security Council, The White House, Washington, D.C.

Navy Capt. Richard J. O'Hanlon has been nominated for appointment to the rank of rear admiral (lower half). O'Hanlon is currently serving as commanding officer, USS THEODORE ROOSEVELT (CVN 71), Norfolk, Va.

Navy Capt. Kevin M. Quinn has been nominated for appointment to the rank of rear admiral (lower half). Quinn is currently serving as executive assistant to the Commander, U.S. Atlantic Fleet, Norfolk, Va.

Navy Capt. Raymond A. Spicer has been nominated for appointment to the rank of rear admiral (lower half). Spicer is currently serving as chief of staff to the Commander, Naval Surface Force, U.S. Pacific Fleet, San Diego, Calif.

Navy Capt. Carol I.B. Turner, Dental Corps, has been nominated for appointment to the rank of rear admiral (lower half). Turner is currently serving as commanding officer, National Naval Dental Center, Bethesda, Md.

Navy Capt. Jeffrey A. Wieringa has been nominated for appointment to the rank of rear admiral (lower half). Wieringa is currently serving as F/A-18 principal deputy, Program Executive Officer for Tactical Aircraft Programs, Patuxent River, Md.

Navy Capt. Peter J. Williams has been nominated for appointment to the rank of rear admiral (lower half). Williams is currently serving as program manager for F-14 Weapon Systems, Program Executive Officer for Tactical Aircraft Programs, Patuxent River, Md.
