GENERAL OFFICER ANNOUNCEMENT
Secretary of Defense William J. Perry announced today that the President has
nominated Lieutenant General Richard E. Hawley, United States Air Force, for
appointment to the grade of general with assignment as Commander, Allied Air
Forces Europe; Commander, United States Air Forces in Europe; and Air Force
Component Commander, United States European Command, Ramstein Air Base Germany.
General Hawley is currently assigned as Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of
the Air Force for Acquisition, Department of the Air Force, Pentagon,
Washington, DC.
General Hawley was born January 2, 1942, in Albany, New York.
