General and Flag Officer Announcements

Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld announced today that the president has made the following nominations:

 

GENERAL

 

            Marine Corps Gen. Peter Pace has been nominated for reappointment to the grade of general and for reappointment as the vice chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Washington, D.C.

 

            Army Lt. Gen. Bryan D. Brown has been nominated for appointment to the grade of general with assignment as commander, U.S. Special Operations Command, MacDill Air Force Base, Fla.  Brown is currently serving as deputy commander, U.S. Special Operations Command, MacDill Air Force Base, Fla.

 

LIEUTENANT GENERAL AND VICE ADMIRAL

 

            Army Lt. Gen. Dan K. McNeill has been nominated for reappointment to the grade of lieutenant general with assignment as deputy commanding general and chief of staff, U.S. Army Forces Command, Fort McPherson, Ga.  McNeill is currently serving as commanding general, XVIII Airborne Corps and Fort Bragg, Fort Bragg, N.C.

 

            Marine Corps Maj. Gen, Robert R. Blackman, Jr., has been nominated for appointment to the grade of lieutenant general and assignment as commanding general, III Marine Expeditionary Force, Okinawa, Japan.  Blackman is currently serving as deputy commander, Marine Corps Forces Central, MacDill Air Force Base, Fla.

 

            Army Maj. Gen. William G. Boykin has been nominated for appointment to the grade of lieutenant general with assignment as deputy under secretary of defense for intelligence, intelligence and warfighting support, Office of the Secretary of Defense, Washington, D.C.  Boykin is currently serving as commanding general, U.S. Army John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center, Fort Bragg, N.C.

 

            Army Maj. Gen. Claude V. Christianson has been nominated for appointment to the grade of lieutenant general with assignment as deputy chief of staff, G-4, U.S. Army, Washington, D.C.  Christianson is currently serving as assistant deputy chief of staff, G-4, U.S. Army, Washington, D.C.

 

            Navy Rear Adm. Eric T. Olson has been nominated for appointment to the grade of vice admiral and assignment as deputy commander, U.S. Special Operations Command, MacDill Air Force Base, Fla.  Olson is currently serving as director, Strategy and Policy Division, N51, Office of the Chief of Naval Operations, The Pentagon, Washington, D.C.
