GENERAL OFFICER ANNOUNCEMENT
The last Marine Corps Medal of Honor recipient on active duty, Major General
James E. Livingston, will retire after more than 30 years of service, closing a
chapter in our nation's history. He is one of 29 surviving Marines who were
awarded the Medal of Honor.
Major General Livingston will pass his command to Major General Thomas L.
Wilkerson at Naval Air Station, Belle Chasse, Louisiana, at 8:30 a.m., July 14,
1995.
As the Commanding General Marine Forces Reserve, Major General Livingston
commanded more than 42,000 Marine reservists throughout the United States in
support of the Marine Corps Total Force concept.
