GENERAL OFFICER ANNOUNCEMENT

Secretary of Defense William Perry announced today that the President has nominated Lieutenant General Paul E. Funk, United States Army, to be placed on the retired list in his current grade. Lieutenant General Funk will retire after completion of more than 32 years of active service. Since October 26, 1993, he has served as the Commanding General, III Corps and Fort Hood, Texas.

Lieutenant General Funk was born on March 10, 1940, in Roundup, Mont.
