DoD Identifies Army Casualty

The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier who was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Sgt. Brian M. Wood, 21, of Torrance, Calif., died April 16, in Tikrit, Iraq, when his military vehicle pulled off the road and apparently hit a mine while on patrol. Sgt. Wood was assigned to the Army's 9th Engineer Battalion, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, Schweinfurt, Germany.
