GENERAL OFFICER ANNOUNCEMENT
Secretary of Defense William J. Perry announced today that the President has
nominated Maj. Gen. Phillip J. Ford, United States Air Force, for appointment
to the grade of lieutenant general with assignment as commander, Eighth Air
Force, Air Combat Command, Barksdale AFB, La. Ford is currently assigned as
director, operations and logistics, United States Strategic Command, Offutt
AFB, Neb.
Ford was born July 7, 1943, in Fort Worth, Texas.
