DoD Identifies Army Casualty

The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier who was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Spc. Philip I. Spakosky, 25, of Browns Mill, N.J., died May 14 in Baghdad, Iraq, of injuries sustained on May 13, in Karbala, Iraq when he was shot by a suspected sniper. Spakosky was assigned to the Armys 1st Battalion, 37th Armor, 1st Armored Division, Friedberg, Germany.

The incident is under investigation.
