GENERAL SHALIKASHVILI RECEIVES NAVAL WAR COLLEGE'S FIRST DISTINGUISHED GRADUATE AWARD
General John M. Shalikashvili, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, received
the Naval War College's first ever Distinguished Graduate Award at the annual
Naval War College Dinner and Crowl Memorial Lecture, Friday, January 26, 1996,
at the Fort McNair Officers Club, Washington, D.C.
Naval War College president, Rear Admiral James R. Stark, and Naval War
College Foundation chairman, Frederick C. Brehm, presented the award.
The Distinguished Graduate Award recognizes former Naval War College students
who have brought honor to the country, the armed forces, and the College. The
annual dinner honors Professor Phillip A. Crowl, founder and first chairman of
the Strategy and Policy Department at the Naval War College in Newport, R.I.
