The Department of Defense announced today the death of two soldiers supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom. They died June 22 in Balad, Iraq, when enemy forces ambushed their ground patrol. Both soldiers were assigned to the Army National Guards 579th Engineer Battalion, Petaluma, Calif.
2nd Lt. Andre D. Tyson, 33, of Riverside, Calif.
Spc. Patrick R. McCaffrey Sr., 34, of Tracy, Calif.
The incident is under investigation.
