DoD Identifies Army Casualties

The Department of Defense announced today the death of two soldiers supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Sgt. Tatjana Reed, 34, of Fort Campbell, K.Y., died July 22 in Samarra, Iraq, when an improvised explosive device detonated near her convoy vehicle. Reed was assigned to the 66th Transportation Company from Kaiserslautern, Germany.

Spc. Nicholas J. Zangara, 21, of Philadelphia, Pa., died July 24 in Tikrit, Iraq, when an improvised explosive device detonated near his convoy vehicle. Zangara was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 7th Field Artillery Regiment, 1st Infantry Division from Schweinfurt, Germany.

The incidents are under investigation.
