GENERAL OFFICER ANNOUNCEMENT
Secretary of Defense William J. Perry announced today that the President has
nominated Lt. Gen. Michael E. Ryan, United States Air Force, for appointment to
the grade of general with assignment as commander, Allied Air Forces Central
Europe; commander, United States Air Forces in Europe; and Air Force component
commander, United States European Command, Ramstein AB, Germany. Ryan is
currently assigned as commander, Allied Air Forces Southern Europe and
commander, Sixteenth Air Force, United States Air Forces in Europe, Naples,
Italy.
Ryan was born Dec. 24, 1941, in San Antonio, Texas.
