Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness David S.C. Chu announced today the selection of Air Force Brig. Gen. K.C. McClain as the commander of the Joint Task Force for Sexual Assault Prevention and Response.
The task force will support Dr.Chu in advising the secretary of defense on all policy and program development, budget and program oversight matters relating to sexual assault prevention and response within the Department of Defense.
McClain is an experienced leader and trainer, who will be the single point of accountability for all sexual assault policy within the Department of Defense. She will lead a joint task force to implement the recommendations of the DoD Task Force Report on Care for Victims of Sexual Assault.
McClains current assignment is deputy director of operations for technical training at Air Education and Training Command (AETC) headquarters on Randolph Air Force Base, Texas. In this position, McClain oversees the planning, direction and implementation of USAF training policy for basic military training and enlisted and non-rated officer training at five AETC locations as well as other air force and DoD installations, graduating over 225,000 students annually.
During this tour, McClain also led the AETC Sexual Assault Awareness Review, surveying 13 AETC bases and briefing the secretary and chief of staff of the air force.
She was commissioned in the Air Force through officer training school. She commanded the 314th Support Group at Little Rock Air Force Base, Ark., the 17th Training Wing at Goodfellow Air Force Base in Texas and the Air Reserve Personnel Center in Denver, Colo. Her staff tours include the Air Staff, U.S. Pacific Command and the Air Force Personnel Center.
