The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier who was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Pfc. Jason L. Sparks, 19, of Monroeville, Ohio, died Sept. 8 in Fallujah, Iraq, when his platoon was engaged in direct fire. Sparks was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 503rd Infantry Regiment, Camp Casey, Korea.
The incident is under investigation.
