DoD Identifies Army Casualty

The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier who was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Spc. Alan J. Burgess, 24, of Landaff, N.H., died Oct. 15 in Mosul, Iraq, when a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device detonated near his patrol vehicle. Burgess was assigned to the Army National Guard's 2nd Battalion, 197th Field Artillery Brigade, Woodsville, N.H.
