RESERVE UNITS IDENTIFIED FOR TRAINING AND POSSIBLE DEPLOYMENT TO SUPPORT OPERATION JOINT ENDEAVOR
The Secretary of the Army announced today the following list of 29 U.S.-based
Army Reserve and National Guard units identified to begin training in
preparation for possible deployment to Bosnia in support of Operation Joint
Endeavor. Not all units identified will actually deploy, but those that
actually do will replace Reserve Component units currently deployed.
Units will conduct as much training as possible at their assigned armories or
reserve centers or at nearby local training sites. Upon mobilization, units
will report to an active military installation to complete training and
processing for deployment.
Training prior to actual notification to deploy is a prudent step to prepare
units for a wide range of possible missions. Deployment to the theater of
operations will be accomplished once soldiers are certified as trained and
prepared to deploy.
