The Department of Defense announced today the death of a Marine who was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.

Lance Cpl. Richard C. Clifton, 19, of Milford, Del., died Feb. 3 as a result of hostile action in Al Anbar Province, Iraq. He was assigned to 2^nd Battalion, 5^th Marine Regiment, 1^st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton, Calif.
