The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier who was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Spc. Jonathan A. Hughes, 21, of Lebanon, Ky., died March 19 in Iraq when an improvised explosive device detonated near his HMMWV. Hughes was assigned to the Army National Guards 1st Battalion, 623rd Field Artillery Regiment, Campbellsville, Ky.
