The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier who was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Cpl. Stanley J. Lapinski, 35, of Las Vegas, Nev., died June 11 in Baghdad, Iraq, when an improvised explosive device detonated near his military vehicle. Lapinski was assigned to the Army's 3rd Battalion, 7th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Stewart, Ga.
