The Department of Defense announced today the death of a Marine who was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Sgt. Brian E. Dunlap, 34, of Vista, Calif., died Sept. 24 from an improvised explosive device while conducting combat operations against enemy forces in Taqaddum, Iraq. He was assigned to Marine Forces Reserves 2nd Battalion, 23rd Marine Regiment, 4th Marine Division, Los Alamitos, Calif. As part of Operation Iraqi Freedom, his unit was attached to 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force (Forward).
