GENERAL OFFICER ANNOUNCEMENT
Secretary of Defense William J. Perry announced today thatthe President has nominated Major General David L. Benton III,United States Army, for appointment to the grade of lieutenantgeneral and assignment as chief of staff, United States EuropeanCommand, Heidelberg, Germany. Since June 1995, he has served asthe chief of staff, United States Army Europe and Seventh Army,Heidelberg, Germany.
