DoD Identifies Army Casualties

The Department of Defense announced today the death of two soldiers who were supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom. They died in Baghdad, Iraq, on Dec. 4, when improvised explosive devices detonated near their HMMWV during convoy operations. Both soldiers were assigned to the Army National Guards 1st Battalion, 147th Field Artillery, Yankton, S.D.

Killed were:

Sgt. 1st Class Richard L. Schild, 40, of Tabor, S.D.

Staff Sgt. Daniel M. Cuka, 27, of Yankton, S.D.
