FLAG OFFICER ANNOUNCEMENT
Secretary of Defense William J. Perry announced today that
the President has nominated Rear Admiral Charles S. Abbot, U.S.
Navy, for appointment to the grade of vice admiral and assignment
as Commander SIXTH Fleet and Commander Naval Striking and Support
Forces, Southern Europe in Gaeta, Italy. Rear Admiral Abbot is
currently serving as Director, J-3, U.S. European Command in
Stuttgart, Germany.
Rear Admiral Abbot was born 19 January 1945 in Pensacola,
Florida.
