General Officer Announcement
Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld announced today that the President has nominated Army Lt. Gen. Thomas F. Metz for the appointment to the grade of lieutenant general and assignment as deputy commanding general/chief of staff, United States Army Training and Doctrine Command, Fort Monroe, Va. Metz is currently serving as commanding general, III Corps and Fort Hood, Fort Hood, Texas.
