Flag Officer Announcements

            Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld announced today that the President has made the following nominations:

 

            Navy Rear Adm. (lower half) John M. Bird has been nominated for appointment to the rank of rear admiral.  Bird is currently serving as commander, Submarine Group SEVEN, Yokosuka, Japan.

 

            Navy Rear Adm. (lower half) John T. Blake has been nominated for appointment to the rank of rear admiral.  Blake is currently serving as deputy director for Resources and Requirements, J8, Joint Staff, Washington, D.C.

 

            Navy Rear Adm. (lower half) Richard E. Cellon has been nominated for appointment to the rank of rear admiral.  Cellon is currently serving as commander, Atlantic Division, Naval Facilities Engineering Command, Norfolk, Va.

 

            Navy Rear Adm. (lower half) David J. Dorsett has been nominated for appointment to the rank of rear admiral.  Dorsett is currently serving as director for Intelligence, J2, Joint Staff, Washington, D.C.

 

            Navy Rear Adm. (lower half) Frank M. Drennan has been nominated for appointment to the rank of rear admiral.  Drennan is currently serving as commander, Submarine Group NINE, Silverdale, Wash./commander, Submarine Group TEN, Kingsbay, Ga.

 

            Navy Rear Adm. (lower half) Mark E. Ferguson III has been nominated for appointment to the rank of rear admiral.  Ferguson is currently serving as chief of Legislative Affairs, Washington, D.C.

 

            Navy Rear Adm. (lower half) John W. Goodwin has been nominated for appointment to the rank of rear admiral.   Goodwin is currently serving as commander, Carrier Strike Group NINE, Everett, Wash.

 

            Navy Rear Adm. (lower half) Mark D. Harnitchek has been nominated for appointment to the rank of rear admiral.  Harnitchek is currently serving as vice director for Logistics, J4, Joint Staff, Washington, D.C.

 

            Navy Rear Adm. (lower half) Elizabeth A. Hight has been nominated for appointment to the rank of rear admiral.  Hight is currently serving as principal director for Global Information Grid Operations/commander, Defense Information Systems Agency Global Operations/deputy commander for Joint Task Force-Global Network Operations, DISA, Arlington, Va.

 

            Navy Rear Adm. (lower half) Richard W. Hunt has been nominated for appointment to the rank of rear admiral.  Hunt is currently serving as commander, Carrier Strike Group SIX, Mayport, Fla.

 

            Navy Rear Adm. (lower half) Arthur J. Johnson, Jr. has been nominated for appointment to the rank of rear admiral.  Johnson is currently serving as commander, Patrol and Reconnaissance FIFTH/SEVENTH Fleet, Misawa, Japan.

 

            Navy Rear Adm. (lower half) Mark W. Kenny has been nominated for appointment to the rank of rear admiral.  Kenny is currently serving as commander, Navy Region Northeast/Commander, Submarine Group TWO, Groton, Conn.

 

            Navy Rear Adm. (lower half) Joseph F. Kilkenny has been nominated for appointment to the rank of rear admiral.  Kilkenny is currently serving as commander, Carrier Strike Group TEN, Norfolk, Va.

 

            Navy Rear Adm. (lower half) William E. Landay III has been nominated for appointment to the rank of rear admiral.  Landay is currently serving as chief of Naval Research/ Director, Test and Evaluation and Technology Requirements, N091, Office of the Chief of Naval Operations, Washington, D.C.

 

            Navy Rear Adm. (lower half) Douglas L. McClain has been nominated for appointment to the rank of rear admiral.  McClain is currently serving as commander, Carrier Strike Group FIVE, Yokosuka, Japan.

 

            Navy Rear Adm. (lower half) William H. McRaven has been nominated for appointment to the rank of rear admiral.  McRaven is currently serving as deputy commanding general for Operations, Joint Special Operations Command, U.S. Special Operations Command, Fort Bragg, N.C.

 

            Navy Rear Adm. (lower half) Kevin M. Quinn has been nominated for appointment to the rank of rear admiral.  Quinn is currently serving as commander, Carrier Strike Group THREE, Everett, Wash.

 

            Navy Rear Adm. (lower half) Wayne G. Shear, has been nominated for appointment to the rank of rear admiral.  Shear is currently serving as deputy director, Ashore Readiness Division, N46A, Office of the Chief of Naval Operations, Washington, D.C.

 

            Navy Rear Adm. (lower half) Raymond A. Spicer has been nominated for appointment to the rank of rear admiral.  Spicer is currently serving as commander, Carrier Strike Group TWELVE, Norfolk, Va.

 

            Navy Rear Adm. (lower half) Peter J. Williams has been nominated for appointment to the rank of rear admiral.  Williams is currently serving as assistant commander for Logistics, AIR-3.0, Naval Air Systems Command, Patuxent River, Md.

 

            Navy Reserve Capt. Sean F. Crean has been nominated for appointment to the rank of rear admiral (lower half) while serving as commanding officer, Navy Reserve N4 Fleet Readiness and Logistics Unit, Washington, D.C.
