GENERAL OFFICER ANNOUNCEMENT
Secretary of Defense William J. Perry announced today that
the President has nominated Maj. Gen. Joseph W. Kinzer, United
States Army, for appointment to the grade of lieutenant general
and assignment as commanding general, Fifth United States Army,
Fort Sam Houston, Texas. Since September 1994, he has served as
the deputy commanding general, Fifth United States Army, Fort Sam
Houston, Texas.
Kinzer was born on July 7, 1939, in Westminster, Md.
