EXERCISE BALTIC CHALLENGE 96
United States forces are joining with soldiers from the
Baltic nations of Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia for Exercise
Baltic Challenge -- a peacekeeping exercise in the spirit of
NATO's Partnership for Peace initiative.
Latvia will host the exercise from July 8th to July 18th at
the Adazi Training Camp near Riga, Latvia.
Exercise training focuses on promoting interoperability in
basic peacekeeping skills such as manning observation and check
points and escorting convoys.
Baltic Challenge 96 is the first land exercise conducted in
the Baltic region under the auspices of the Partnership for Peace
initiative.
