STATEMENT BY GENERAL JOHN M. SHALIKASHVILI CHAIRMAN OF THE JOINT CHIEFS OF STAFF
Tuesday's bombing attack near the housing compound outside
Dhahran is a bitter reminder of the abhorrent and senseless acts
of terrorists. I am personally and deeply saddened by the tragic
loss of life and numerous injuries.
Just a short time ago on a visit to the region, I met with
the remarkable young men and women who lived in Khobar Towers.
Far from home, they were performing the mission our country had
asked of them with professionalism and dedication. They were
extraordinary ambassadors of peace and I was proud of what they
were doing for America.
On behalf of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and the men and women
of the Armed Forces, I extend sincere condolences to the families
of the victims and our prayers and thoughts go out to those who
were injured.
