GENERAL OFFICER ANNOUNCEMENT
Secretary of Defense William J. Perry announced today that
the President has nominated Maj. Gen. John B. Sams Jr., United
States Air Force, for appointment to the grade of lieutenant
general with assignment as vice commander, Air Mobility Command,
Scott AFB, Ill. Sams is currently assigned as director, Plans
and Policy, J-5, Headquarters United States Atlantic Command,
Norfolk, Va.
Sams was born Nov. 22, 1945, in Charleston, S. C.
