Flag Officer Assignments

Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Mike Mullen announced the following flag officer assignments:

Rear Admiral (selectee) Mark D. Harnitchek is being assigned as director for Strategy, Plans, Policy and Programs, J4/J5, United States Transportation Command, Scott Air Force Base, Ill.  Harnitchek  is currently serving as vice director for Logistics, J4, Joint Staff, Washington, D.C.

Rear Adm. (lower half) John H. Bowling III is being assigned as deputy director, National Military Command Center, Operations Team Five, J3, Joint Staff, Washington, D.C.  Bowling is currently serving as deputy director, Expeditionary Warfare, N85B, Office of the Chief of Naval Operations, Washington, D.C.

Rear Adm. (lower half) Mark H. Buzby is being assigned as commander, Carrier Strike Group Seven, North Island, Calif.  Buzby is currently serving as deputy director, Surface Warfare Division, N86B, Office of the Chief of Naval Operations, Washington, D.C.

Rear Adm. (lower half) Ronald H. Henderson, Jr., is being assigned as commander, Strike Force Training Atlantic, Norfolk, Va.  Henderson is currently serving as deputy director, National Military Command Center, Operations Team Five, J3, Joint Staff, Washington, D.C.

Rear Adm. (lower half) Gerard M. Mauer is being assigned as commandant, Industrial College of the Armed Forces, National Defense University, Washington, D.C.  Mauer is currently serving as deputy assistant Chief of Staff for Joint Experimentation, Exercises and Assessment, Allied Command Transformation, Norfolk, Va.

Rear Adm. (lower half)(selectee) Townsend G. Alexander is being assigned as commander, Navy Region Hawaii/commander, Naval Surface Group MIDPAC, Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.  Alexander is currently serving as commanding officer, Naval Air Station North Island, San Diego, Calif.

Rear Adm. (lower half)(selectee) Kendall L. Card is being assigned as director for Command Control Systems, J6, Headquarters North American Aerospace Defense Command/director, Architectures and Integration, J6, United States Northern Command, Peterson Air Force Base, Colo.  Card is currently serving as executive assistant to the commander, United States Northern Command, Peterson Air Force Base, Colo.

Rear Adm. (lower half)(selectee) Philip H. Greene is being assigned as director, Navy Europe Programs, Resources and Support/director, Transformation Activities, Naples, Italy.  Greene is currently serving as chief of staff, Naval Surface Force, United States Pacific Fleet, San Diego, Calif.

Rear Adm. (lower half)( selectee) Michelle J. Howard is being assigned as deputy director, Expeditionary Warfare, N85B, Office of the Chief of Naval Operations, Washington, D.C.  Howard is currently serving as deputy director, Information, Planning and Security, N3IPS1, Office of the Chief of Naval Operations, Washington, D.C.

Rear Adm. (lower half)(selectee) Joseph P. Mulloy is being assigned as deputy chief of staff for Plans, Policies and Requirements, N5/N8, United States Pacific Fleet, Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.  Mulloy is currently serving as chief, Program and Budget Analysis, J8, Joint Staff, Washington, D.C.

Rear Adm. (lower half)(selectee) David M. Thomas, Jr., is being assigned as director, Joint Operations, N3, United States Fleet Forces Command, Norfolk, Va.  Thomas is currently serving as chief of staff, Second Fleet, Norfolk, Va.

Rear Adm. (lower half)(selectee) Kurt W. Tidd is being assigned as director, Strategic Capabilities Policy, National Security Council, Washington, D.C.  Tidd is currently serving as director, Combating Terrorism, National Security Council, Washington, D.C.

Rear Adm. (lower half)(selectee) Garry R. White is being assigned as director, Total Force Programming and Manpower Management Division, N12, Office of the Chief of Naval Operations, Washington, D.C.  White is currently serving as commanding officer, USS George Washington (CVN 73), Norfolk, Va.

Rear Adm. (lower half)(selectee) Mark A. Vance is being assigned as deputy director for Requirements Assessment, N81D, Office of the Chief of Naval Operations, Washington, D.C.  Vance is currently serving as deputy director, Deep Blue, Office of the Chief of Naval Operations, Washington, D.C.
