Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld announced today that the President has made the following nominations:
Marine Corps Lt.Gen. James T. Conway has been nominated for appointment to the grade of general and for appointment as the commandant of the Marine Corps. Conway is currently serving as the director of operations, J-3, Joint Staff, Washington, D.C.
Army Reserve Col. Frank A. Cipolla has been nominated for appointment to the grade of brigadier general. Cipolla is currently serving as deputy commander (Troop Program Unit), 77th Regional Readiness Command (Provisional), Fort Totten, N.Y.
Navy Rear Adm. Robert B. Murrett has been nominated for appointment to the grade of vice admiral and assignment as director, National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency, Bethesda, Md. Murrett is currently serving as director of Naval Intelligence, N2, Office of the Chief of Naval Operations, Pentagon, Washington, D.C.
