The United States and Croatia have been strong partners for many years. And, our two countries share a commitment to furthering peace and prosperity across the Balkan region.
Today, Croatian troops are supporting a number of UN peacekeeping efforts … And, they’re playing a critical role in helping to stabilize Afghanistan. America is deeply grateful for your country’s many contributions and sacrifices.
Croatia received a formal invitation to join NATO this past April and we all look forward to your full partnership this coming April. I am delighted that the U.S. Senate ratified Croatia’s accession to NATO just last week and, so, congratulations.
The United States stands firmly beside Croatia … And, we look forward to strengthening the bonds of friendship between our countries in the years ahead.
