Today in the Department of Defense, December 6, 2016

Secretary of Defense Ash Carter and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Marine Gen. Joseph F. Dunford Jr. are traveling.  Deputy Secretary of Defense Bob Work has no public or media events on his schedule.


Under Secretary of the Army Patrick Murphy hosts the 2016 Army Community Partnership Award ceremony, recognizing the partnerships between Army installations and neighboring communities, at 10:30 a.m. EST in the Hall of Heroes (2D1040) at the Pentagon.  Five Army communities were selected for their commitment to improving Army readiness and for demonstrating exceptional cooperation with the neighboring installations. Two representatives from each of the top five communities will be formally recognized and each awarded a plaque for their contributions on stage during the ceremony.  Journalists interested in covering this event should contact Lt.
