Media Availability After Hospital Visit to See President-Elect de la Rua in Buenos Aires, Argentina
Secretary Cohen: Let me say that I had a wonderful opportunity to meet with Dr. de la Rua. He is in very good spirits and appears to be in very good health. And while I was anticipating having just four or five minutes. We actually had twenty to twenty five minutes together.
We took the occasion to reaffirm the strong relationship that we have on a BI-lateral basis and to work together to enhance and make it even stronger in the future.
Q: Which is your opinion concerning the health of Dr. de la Rua
Secretary Cohen: I think you should talk to the Dr.'s about his health but, what I saw was a very strong, very engaged President elect. He is looking is looking forward to leaving the hospital next week (CORRECTION: BY WEDNESDAY, THIS WEEK) and looking forward to helping his transition team prepare for the future.
Q: Are there any problems with your relations (inaudible)............radar system and the United States
Secretary Cohen: We did not have any discussion pertaining to that. It would have been inappropriate for me to discuss specifics with the President-elect while he is in the hospital.
Secretary Cohen: The objective? To build a strong economy. To promote Peace, Stability, and Democracy. Those are our goals for the next Millennium.
