Army Gen. Henry H. Shelton, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, will depart Andrews Air Force Base, Md., today for a visit to North Carolina. At Pope Air Force Base, he will speak at a 6 p.m. EST dedication ceremony during which a C-17 aircraft will be named, "The Spirit of Airborne."
On Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2000, Shelton will participate in a 9 a.m. dedication ceremony of the Airborne and Special Operations Museum at Fort Bragg, N.C. There will be a brief media availability following the ceremony. Shelton returns to Washington that afternoon.
