New Identification Card Uses "Smart" Technology
A special news briefing to introduce the Department of Defense common access card will be conducted on Tuesday, Oct. 10, at 1:30 p.m. EDT in the DoD briefing room, Pentagon 2E781. The common access card will replace the current uniformed services ID card and is based on "smart card" technology.
Participants in this briefing will include Bernard Rostker, under secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness; Paul Brubaker, the deputy chief information officer; Ken Scheflen, director for the Defense Manpower Data Center; and Mary Dixon, director for the Access Card Office.
