On Tuesday, Dec. 5, at 9 a.m. EST, Under Secretary of Defense for Personnel and Readiness Bernard Rostker will host the grand opening ceremony for the Potomac Mills Recruiting Station in Prince William, Va.
This marketing-enhanced recruiting station is a prototype in highly visible areas as an effort to assist recruiters in providing a professional, appealing and functional environment to reach youth and their adult influencers. The station is designed to demonstrate the military's commitment to using a variety of advertising and marketing initiatives that will lead us into the 21st century. These offices will focus on marketing today's military in a contemporary, inviting atmosphere with an outward appearance that creates a "brand identity." The stations will be equipped with private recruiter offices, conference/testing rooms, exercise areas with equipment, computerized kiosks, Internet capabilities, waiting lounges, service displays, literature racks, and contracted civilian station administrators. These stations also will draw youth and adult influencers into the facility for an introduction to the opportunities and lifestyle of military service.
This new station will be open to the media for a preview on Monday, Dec. 4 from noon until 4 p.m. EST. Media interested in covering the event or attending the preview should contact Army Maj. Tim Blair at (703) 697-5133.
