Mullen to Relieve Clark as Chief of Naval Operations

            Adm. Vern Clark will be relieved as chief of naval operations by Adm. Mike Mullen during a ceremony that will take place in Tecumseh Court, U.S. Naval Academy, Annapolis, Md., Friday, July 22, 2005, at 10 a.m. EDT.

 

            Secretary of Defense Donald H. Rumsfeld and Secretary of the Navy Gordon England will deliver remarks.

 

            The ceremony will be available by streaming video on the Navy's official Web site at http://www.navy.mil .  The ceremony will also be available to sailors in the fleet via the Navy's Direct to Sailor satellite television system.

 

            Members of the media who wish to cover the ceremony are asked to confirm their attendance no later than Wednesday, July 20, 2005, by contacting the Naval Academy Public Affairs Office at (410) 293-2292.
