The Pentagon Force Protection Agency (PFPA) will conduct a full-scale emergency response exercise on the Pentagon Reservation and in Crystal City, Va., Wednesday, June 8, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. EDT. The exercise, called "Gallant Fox III," is open for media coverage. The purpose of this event is to enable PFPA and its federal, state, and local response partners to exercise emergency units in a duty-day, real world scenario and evaluate existing plans and interagency coordination in response to multiple threats.
A large number of first responders from the region and a significant amount of equipment from local fire, police, and rescue units will respond to simulated attacks on the Pentagon and buildings in Crystal City. The primary exercise locations will be the Pentagon Metro Bus Station, Federal Office Building 2 (Navy Annex) and Jefferson Plaza 1 in Crystal City. As part of the exercise, several noise simulation devices (flash-bangs) will be used. The exercise also will include the assembly and evacuation of pre-selected individuals from the Pentagon and Jefferson Plaza 1. Exercise participants playing the role of "victims" will be treated at the Pentagon Metro Bus Station.
Media and the general public should heed signs posted by Virginia State Police that an exercise will be in progress on the Pentagon Reservation and in Crystal City.
Media representatives who wish to cover the exercise should attend a walkthrough and background briefing Monday, June 6, at 2 p.m. at the Pentagon Lower Bus Platform.
The point of contact for this exercise is Brett Eaton, (703) 601-2554, ext. 111, or email@example.com .
