Gen. Shelton's Upcoming Trip To Rhode Island, New York and Pennsylvania
Gen. Henry H. Shelton, U.S. Army, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, will depart Andrews Air Force Base, Md., on Thursday, Jan. 15, 1998, for visits to Rhode Island, New York and Pennsylvania.
In Newport, R.I., Shelton will discuss the direction of the military in the 21st Century at a breakfast event hosted by Rep. Patrick J. Kennedy and attended by area community and business leaders.
While in Newport, the chairman will speak at the U.S. Naval War College.
Shelton will visit New York City for meetings with the U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Bill Richardson and U.N. Secretary General Koffi Annan.
That evening, Shelton will address members of the Council on Foreign Relations.
On Friday, Jan. 16, 1998, Shelton will travel to Carlisle Barracks, Pa., for an address to the students and faculty at the U.S. Army War College.
Shelton will return to Washington, D.C., in the late afternoon.
