Deputy Secretary of Defense John Hamre will deliver dinner remarks Thursday, Jan 22 at 4:55 p.m. (EST)
The Pentagon Chaplain, with the Armed Forces and Veterans Affairs Office of the American Muslim Council, will sponsor an interfaith Iftar dinner to be held in the Executive Dining Room of the Pentagon on Thursday, Jan. 22, at 5:15 p.m. (EST).
This is the first time an Iftar dinner will be held in the Pentagon.
Participants will include Muslims serving on active duty in the U.S. Armed Forces and others of various faiths.
Deputy Secretary of Defense John Hamre will deliver remarks before the dinner.
Iftar is the communal meal held after sundown when Muslims, who do not eat or drink anything from dawn to dusk during the holy month of Ramadan, break their fast.
